Tuleane
Afrika Initiative was the brain child of a parent of a child with Autistic
Spectrum Disorder, who is now 17 years of age. The mother saw the plight and need of children
living in the underprivileged lower class in Kenya and decided to assist with
the help of friends founded Tuleane Afrika
Initiative in 2012.
TAI is the first of its kind in Kenya, taking the children with
unique educational and social needs of students aged (9-25) years with learning
disabilities, Autistic Spectrum
Disorders, Down’s Syndrome, Epilepsy, Attention Deficit & Disruptive
Behavior Disorders, Sensory Processing
Disorders, Visual and Auditory processing difficulties and more.

The TAI Mission
Statement
Through
collaboration with the County schools in Kenya we will seek to create a Special
Education Center for the 47 counties; we intend to be pioneering a Model for
Replication and Large Scale Impact within a Global Community.
To develop and teach a
flexible academic and vocational curriculum that prepares students with mild
learning disabilities to lead fulfilled independent and productive lives.
The TAI Vision
To
become a self-sustaining, leading center for learning, and research in the
field of special education in East Africa.
